Ramayana Trailer Release Delayed, Makers Plan Global Launch After Major International Distribution Deal
Ramayana trailer release has been postponed as producer Namit Malhotra announces a global launch plan after a major Sony Pictures Entertainment distribution deal. The two-part epic film starring the story of Lord Ram will feature massive VFX, a ₹4000 crore budget, and music by A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer.
Just hours before the scheduled trailer unveiling at San Diego Comic-Con, producer Namit Malhotra announced that the trailer would not be released at the event. Instead, it will be launched globally at a later date. The makers have not yet revealed the new trailer release date or timing.
On July 18, the entire team of Ramayana was shown a special private preview of the trailer in Delhi. However, fans will now have to wait longer for the official trailer release.
The trailer was initially planned to be launched at San Diego Comic-Con, but the release has been postponed following a major international distribution agreement. Producer Namit Malhotra revealed that the makers have partnered with Sony Pictures Entertainment for a significant global distribution deal. With this partnership, the team aims to present Ramayana not only as an Indian release but as a worldwide cinematic event.
Namit Malhotra shared a statement on Instagram, saying that July 24 was a very special day for the film Ramayana. He stated that the partnership with Sony Pictures Entertainment was helping fulfil the dream of taking Ramayana to audiences across the world. He added that the trailer would now be launched globally at a later stage.
He described the project as a historic moment for Indian cinema, which has a legacy of more than 100 years, as Ramayana would be presented to global audiences on the scale of a major Hollywood production. He said the film would allow people worldwide to understand the richness of Indian culture and storytelling traditions. He also thanked all Ramayana devotees and fans, stating that the younger generation represents the future and efforts should be made collectively to create a better future.
The film will be released in two parts, with both installments reportedly involving an estimated production cost of around ₹4000 crore. The music of Ramayana will feature a collaboration between Oscar-winning composer Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman, marking their first joint project.
The first part of Ramayana is scheduled to release around Diwali in October 2026, while the second part is planned for a Diwali 2027 release. With its international distribution strategy, massive production scale, advanced visual effects, and global ambitions, Ramayana is being positioned as a landmark project aimed at bringing one of India’s most revered stories to audiences worldwide.
